4 Countries

Vietnam - A socialist nation of over 90M people, torn and built up from the Vietnam war just over 50 years where the northern and southern autonomous countries were reunited as one under a communist lead. Cu Chi tunnel will show you a snippet on how the North did it and ingeniously won against the South and the Americans.

Fast forward to present, Vietnam is a booming tourist destination with cheap prices, nice beaches, pointed hats worn with friendly smiles, and a fascinating culture of scooters, where motorbikes can be spotted to carry as many as 4 or 5 human beings!

Cambodia - A constitutional monarch of 15M people, achieving worldwide awareness thanks to Angelina Jolie's Tomb Raider film.

But apart from its famous Angkor Wat, Cambodia has a bloody history of genocide that occurred just over 30 years ago, some of the people responsible are still alive and being tried today. 25% of its population died during the rule Pol Pot that ended on 1979, that every single  "Khmer" will have their own unique and connecting story from that era.

Laos - a democratic republic of almost 7M that best exemplifies being "Chill". Almost dead cities, slow paced, relaxed, that lifestyle there gives much justice to the nation's official name - Lao PDR (Please Don't Rush)

But this land lock nation, under everyone's radar, holds the record for being the most bombed country in the world, as it got in the middle of cross fire during the wars in Cambodia and Vietnam. But this lovely former French colony deserves more attention that what it's currently getting.

Thailand - a kingdom of over 60M that holds the record as the only Asian country in the region that has never been colonized. Siam and it's rich uninterrupted monarchy-reigned culture needs the least of introduction.

This extremely liberal Buddhist nation is certainly a place of wonder, as most tourist who has been there would probably attest.  As compared though with the other 3, Thailand has more hustle, bustle, and lady boys than the whole Indochina countries, combined.
